The family was extremely worried about her condition but they were positive that she is strong enough to fight through.
Amidst all the heartbreaking news coming in regarding COVID-19's second wave, a story from Gorakhpur surfaced online that will make you believe in miracles.
In Gorakhpur, an 82-year-old woman named Vidya Devi fought COVID-19 solely with the help of the 'proning' technique that involves lying down on your stomach in order to increase the oxygen levels.
Vidya Devi has been battling the deadly virus for the past 12 days. Her oxygen levels dipped considerably that posed a threat to her life. Despite the lingering danger, she and her family did not lose any ounce of hope. Her son, Hari Mohan Srivastava, spent all his time with his mother, monitoring her and making sure she was well taken care of.
The family was extremely worried about her condition but they were positive that she is strong enough to fight through. After consulting doctors, Srivastava asked her to lie down on her stomach for some time. In a matter of four days, her oxygen levels increased from 79 to 94!
"While being infected, one day her oxygen levels reached 79. Everyone in the family got worried. Despite this, we did not give up. We asked her to sleep in the prone position with her stomach down on the bed. Gradually, the situation improved and the oxygen level rose to 94 in four days," Vidya Devi's son told News 18.
Hail and hearty, her oxygen is now at 97. Along with her, her family was also fighting the virus and they recovered as well. Her son further added that along with this tried and tested technique, food, and positivity also helped in her speedy recovery.
The 'proning' technique has been recommended by many doctors to solve the problem regarding the drop in oxygen levels. It helps in improving and increasing oxygen levels.
