IFS officer shares bill from 1987 when wheat was Rs 1.6 per kg

IFS officer Parveen Kaswan took to Twitter to share a picture of a bill from 1987 that showed wheat priced at Rs 1.6 per kg. The bill was actually his grandfather's J Form.

A picture of an old bill showing the price of wheat as Rs 1.6 per kg has surfaced online. It was shared on Twitter by Indian Forest Service officer Parveen Kaswan. According to Kaswan, the bill was actually his grandfather's 'J Form' that showed the produce sold to the Food Corporation of India.

Parveen Kaswan took to Twitter on January 2 to share his grandfather's J Form. The J Form is the sale receipt of a farmer's agricultural produce in grain markets. In the bill from 1987, wheat was priced at 1.6 per kg. "Time when wheat used to be at 1.6 rupees per kg. The wheat crop my grandfather sold in 1987 to Food Corporation of India," Kaswan wrote in the caption.

Kaswan, in another tweet, informed that the bill is a J Form and told that his grandfather had a habit of keeping records intact. "Grandfather had this habit of keeping all the records intact. This document is called a J form. His collection has all documents of crops sold in last 40 years. One can do a study at home itself," he wrote.

The post garnered attention from Twitter users and they shared their thoughts in the comments section.

"Good to see the archives of bill," a user wrote.

Another user commented, "Amazing. The elders back then used to write down all the details of every penny spent."
