Bhavans IES Celebrates International Women’s Day

The theme of this year’s celebration was "Women in leadership: Achieving an equal future in a Covid-19 world".

International Women's Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The annual observance of the day is a call to action on steadily growing gender inequality, and a plethora of activities and campaigns are witnessed worldwide as various groups come together to celebrate women's achievements or rally for women's equality. Joining the global campaigns for women empowerment and celebrating the spirit of womanhood, Bhavans Indian Education School, Kuwait, grandly observed International Women’s Day on March 8, 2021, in its virtual classrooms of grades 10 and 12. The theme of this year’s celebration was "Women in leadership: Achieving an equal future in a Covid-19 world".

The eventful day unfurled at 8 a.m. when the students and the pedagogues joined their virtual classrooms having a special virtual backdrop with the header, ‘International Women’s Day – Celebrating the Spirit of Womanhood’. The Department of Social Science led the way in celebrating the day by organizing a quiz on ‘The Women Who Changed the World’. The quiz was conducted by the class teachers during the first period, and all the students enthusiastically answered the challenging questions pertaining to the extraordinary achievements of women. The quiz made a remarkably successful attempt to convince the young participants of the pivotal role played by women in moulding human society and the need for gender parity. During their English period, the students of grade 12 actively partook in a seminar on the topic "What is women empowerment in your perspective?” They expounded their clear views on women empowerment and its different dimensions. The students of grade 10, with deep emotional sincerity, earnestly spoke about the women who had profoundly influenced them while participating in an extempore speech competition held during their English period. Both the activities were graded by the teachers of English based on the criteria - content, fluency, accuracy, delivery and confidence.
