IES Pays Homage to the Great Liberator Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar
Grade 10 students gave rhetoric speeches on hypothetical situations referring to Ambedkar’s response to conflicting challenges faced in the present day India.
Babasaheb Ambedkar’s Jayanthi was observed at Indian Education School, Kuwait on April 14, 2021 to commemorate the birth anniversary of the father of the Indian constitution, Dr.B.R Ambedkar. The virtual celebration was under the auspices of the Social Science department, steered by the event coordinator Mr.Nagarajan Murugesh. Students from grade 5 to 10 were given the golden opportunity to take part in a plethora of absorbing activities during the respective Social Science periods.
A common virtual background bearing the image of Babasaheb and one of his famous quotes “Life should be great rather than long” made the virtual gathering auspicious. As an introductory activity, the students from grade 5 to 8 were asked to read the preamble of the Indian constitution. Apart from the above mentioned activity, grade 5 students wrote the famous quotes of Ambedkar on an A4 size paper. Grade 6 students made inventive posters to generate awareness on importance of social justice in today’s world and to emphasize that everyone deserves equal economic, political, social rights and opportunities. Grade 7 students enthusiastically drafted speeches on varied topics like ‘Who was B.R Ambedkar?’, ‘How was the Indian constitution framed?’, ‘Name the great personalities who drafted the constitution and their contributions in brief’ and ‘Why is our constitution known as living document?’. Bio sketches of Ambedkar and K.M Munshi (the member of Constituent Assembly and Founder of Bhavans) were prepared by students of grade 8. The students of grade 9 diligently delivered speeches on social hierarchy all around the world and its impact on the society. Grade 10 students gave rhetoric speeches on hypothetical situations referring to Ambedkar’s response to conflicting issues and challenges faced in the present day India.
The students recognized the full worth of the day and were appreciated for the elated participation. Mr. N K Ramachandran, the Chairman, Mr T Premkumar, the Principal, Ms. Anselma Tessy Judeson the Vice Principal of Senior Wing, Ms. Meenakshi Nayyar, the Vice Principal of Middle Wing congratulated the Social Science department for the concerted effort in organizing a stupendous event in memory of the great liberator, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar.
