Bhavans Smart Indian School: “Save the Sea to See the Future”
Protect the ocean, to protect our future was the aim behind celebrating ‘Ocean Day’ on 9th December in the kindergarten wing of Bhavans Smart Indian School and Jack and Jill Pre-school.
Teachers showed them videos of the vast underwater world. Children were amazed to see the beauty and wonders of nature and were eager to describe the aquarium which some of them had in their homes. They felt empathetic towards the animals when they saw the dangers the animals underwent due to the pollution in the ocean.
Children were then given an opportunity to make their own 2D aquarium with clay and other simple raw materials which they could find around them. After making the aquarium children were given a choice to either decorate them with water plants or with paper or plastic. The wise decision taken by the toddlers to fill it with water plants assured the teachers that the kids had understood the hazards of pollution and thus proved that they would be responsible future global citizens.
Towards the end of the day children happily flaunted their beautiful aquarium which they made with utmost love and care. Together we can protect and restore our ocean if it is imbibed in the minds of our children right from the start and that is what Bhavans SIS and Bhavans JnJ have been striving for.
