Batch of 2023 leaves a mark worldwide
Private International English School, famously known as Bhavans Abu Dhabi, has resumed its yearly tradition of Zakat or charity box. The students of Grade 12 2022-23 have generously donated the fund of AED 1,500 they raised to give a befitting farewell to their seniors for a noble cause. Their donation will be used for the ‘One Billion Meals’ campaign launched by Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
The campaign ‘One Billion Meals’ aims to provide meals to the less fortunate communities in 50 countries. This initiative was started in March as an auspicious start for the holy month of Ramadan as a way to give back to the people. Parcels are distributed among different groups of people in collaboration with the UN World Food Programme, the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Humanitarian and Charity Establishment (MBRCH) and humanitarian organizations in the chosen countries.
Bhavanites have once again surpassed the expectations of everyone. They had collected a fortune for the farewell of the current outgoing batch. The spirit of Ramadan gave them a second thought and they put off the pleasures of celebration and donated the money to feed the underprivileged communities all around the world.
“When my classmates and I had the opportunity to donate to other kids of our age and their families who suffer due to reasons beyond their control, we feel we have a veiled obligation to help them out. To provide a meal to someone less fortunate is truly a blessing for us. Our school assisted us a great deal in this noble cause.” said a group of pupils.
Giving is not about making a donation, it is about making a difference. The students of Bhavans Abu Dhabi have proven this always and will continue to do so. Any help or donation, no matter how much be it, is deeply appreciated and is much needed. Let this virtuous act of giving back set an example to everyone out there.
