Let’s Eat a Rainbow!

“We don’t chase rainbows; we eat them!”

Being healthy is a personal choice every human should be consciously aware of. The most effective way to make it happen naturally is to adapt to it right from childhood. Keeping this in mind, ‘Let’s Eat a Rainbow: Fruit Salad Day’ was celebrated on 26th May 2022 at IES Kindergarten. The program was a novel method of familiarizing the children with fruits and making them understand that fruits must be made an essential part of their daily meals while teaching them the health benefits of eating fruits of different colours, tastes and textures. The focus was to make the children aware of how regular eating of fruits is a healthy lifestyle and a strong remedy for all forms of diseases.

Teachers showed them how to peel, cut, slice and dice fruits. Thus, words like washing, peeling, chopping, dicing, sprinkling, serving, etc. were added to their vocabulary. A delicious fruit salad was made and served to all the children which they relished a lot.

In connection with the Fruit Salad Day celebration, the kindergarten section conducted various fun-filled activities as well. Card-making activity was done by KG 1 children and KG 2 children made a collage with fruit printouts.

Through this activity, we hope to raise children to embrace a healthy eating habit, make them conscious of the health benefits of different fruits, and encourage them to include fruits in their diet.
