Bhavans Kuwait Organizes Litera 2022
Indian Education School, Kuwait organized the annual literary fest, ‘Litera – Inspire the Literati’, an opportunity for the students to soak themselves in an ambience where literature is celebrated, inspiring them to indulge in creative arts. It was held on June 4, 2022, in the school auditorium, under the aegis of the Departments of English, French, Hindi, Sanskrit, and Arabic. A mélange of events showcased the outstanding literary acumen of the Bhavanites.
A professional engineer with artistic vision, Mr. Shemej Kumar Kattikolath, director, producer, and scriptwriter, was the chief guest of the day. The Principal of Indian Education School, Mr. T. Premkumar, the Vice Principals, Ms. Meenakshi Nayyar and Mr. Binoy Mathew, the Headmistress, Ms. Muneera Mammikutty, the Heads of the various Departments, teachers, contestants of the events and their parents were present.
The day kicked off with the recitation of the verses from the Holy Quran by Anza Nazrin of grade 7. Akshita Rajesh and Sindoora Shridhar Bhat of grade 9 presented a soulful Sarasvati Vandana, followed by a spellbinding semi-classical dance by Lakshika Saravanan Remya of grade 8. A warm welcome was extended by Zara Imtiyaz of grade 11. The audience was enlightened about the unfolding of the event by Sanuthi Nihinsa Wickramaarachchi of grade 11. The video titled ‘Down the Memory Lane’ showcasing the finest captures of the yesteryears took the audience on a nostalgic journey.
The chief guest, Mr. Shemej Kumar Kattikolath, in his address, spoke about how art is inseparable from life. He insisted on moulding a perspective through reading books. He dedicated a book named ‘Theatre Space’, in which his play ‘Persistence of Memory’ is published, to the Bhavanites to explore the world of art and theatre. The Principal, Mr. T. Premkumar presented the chief guest with a memento as a token of appreciation and love.
The excitement reached its pinnacle at 9.00 am when the spirit of the competition found its expression in the various venues of IES. A cornucopia of literary events such as Show and Tell, Recitation, Character Portrayal, Extempore, and Declamation were organized by the Department of English. Character Portrayal, Advertisement Enacting, Storytelling, and Recitation were organized by the Department of Hindi. The Department of Sanskrit organized events such as Shloka Recitation, Character Portrayal and Gita Chanting. French Rhymes, Speech, Character Portrayal, Elocution, and Salad Making were organized by the Department of French. The Department of Arabic organized recitation. The winners were announced and acknowledged soon after the event in their respective venues.
The winners were eulogized by the principal and the senior leadership team. In his closing thoughts, the principal thanked the chief guest and applauded the team for the wonderful coordination. In the era of digital reading, when information is available at the click of a button, he reiterated the importance of reading books. He also said that a well-read person is a well-informed person. Ms. Vandana Kumari, faculty of the Department of Hindi proposed the vote of thanks. Manha Anees Shina and Sindoora Shridhar Bhat of grade 9 were the emcees of the day. The event was coordinated by Ms. Hima Nirmal, Subject Coordinator, Department of English.
Litera 2022, unleashed the sublime talents and garnered praise among student and parent community alike. Litera 2022 came to an end, leaving one and all enraptured in the mesmerizing cascades of creativity and literature.
