Former President of India, philosopher and educationist Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan's birthday is celebrated as Teacher's Day in the country. He was a great scholar and teacher and was honoured by the country with the Bharat Ratna award in 1954. Since 1962, his birthday, September 5, has been celebrated as Teacher’s Day.

This day is observed to honour the dedication and hard work of teachers and to honour the contribution made by the teaching community to the country.

Smart Indian School celebrated Teacher’s Commitment Day on Teacher’s Day. In a special assembly held during the day, Principal Mahesh Iyer administered the pledge which all the teachers repeated Infront of the students assuring that we are committed to support you in all means.

During the first two class hours, the higher secondary students of the school led the classes in the classrooms as student-teachers for the other students. School Head Boy Ashwant Regan also served as Acting Principal for two hours. It was a new experience for the new teachers and students. Head Girl Janet George thanked all the teachers for their services.

Art and sports competitions prepared by the students for the teachers were also organized during the class breaks.

The students had performed few cultural items like dances and skits in a cultural programme organized in the school auditorium. It was vivid that they had put in lot of efforts to make their teachers happy and feel loved and wanted. All the teaching fraternity came together for a cake cutting ceremony on stage and enjoyed themselves the company of the students. The day was indeed colorful and was made lively with lots of entertaining activities for teachers.
