A Saga of Pragmatic Learning, between Indian Education School Kuwait and Unicent School Hyderabad. 

A saga of experiential collaborative learning has been initiated by the Indian Education School, under the aegis of the Department of Social Science in unison with the Unicent School Kompally, Hyderabad. The second session of the third-year collaborative learning programme on the topic ‘Sovereign powers and governance’ was conducted on a virtual platform on Wednesday, November 2, 2022. The session commenced at 10.00 a.m. with the welcome address extended by B. Nagalakshmi from the host school and the programme rolled on with the shloka recitation.

Ms. C. V. Rama Devi, the Principal of Unicent School, teachers of Unicent School, Ms. B. Naga Laxmi, Ms. Karunashree, Vice Principals of Indian Education School, Ms. Anselma Tessy, Ms. Meenakshi Nayyar and Mr. Binoy Mathew, the Head of the Department of Social Science, Ms. Hajira Bhanu, Faculty of Social Science, Ms. Ramila Miranda, Ms. Sujatha Jaishankar , Ms. Aswathy Rengan, the teacher-in-charge of the event Ms. Chithra I, and the students of grade 6 from both the schools were present in the session.

The students of Unicent School presented various types of governments such as monarchy, oligarchy, dictatorship, anarchy etc. They elaborated on the significance of government and sovereign powers and compared various types of governments with examples. The presenters concluded the session with data analysis of various regimes in different periods and the role of important leaders of India in strengthening democracy in India.

The presenters from Indian Education School, Abhijith Sujith Krishna of 6A, Kavya Kumari of 6B, Adweeta Aravindan of 6E, Jaivanth Srinivassapperumal of 6F, Eshika Rahul Neotia of 6E, Ishaan Anand of 6B, Navaneet Girish of 6B, Saanvi Marsonia of 6B and Anika Harikrishnan of 6F presented the topics - various forms of governments in the world, sovereign powers and governance of countries such as Kuwait, India, The USA, Russia, and North Korea. They wrapped up the session by comparing various types of governments of these countries and citing instances of the merits of democracy.

The Principal of Unicent school, Ms. C.V. Rama Devi, shared her valuable words of wisdom and appreciated the effort of the students in researching and presenting various themes with complete illustrations. Ms. Meenakshi Nayyar, the Vice Principal of Indian Education School Kuwait, appraised both the school teams and shared her experience of attending the programme. She said that such collaborative learning encourage the students for further research and give a vivid exposure in public speaking and presentations. A few students from both schools shared their experiences and thanked the school management and the teachers for extending such an opportunity for the students to interact mutually, share their knowledge, showcase their talents and nurture their skills. This interactive session was a platform for the students to develop their higher-level thinking, oral communication, self-management, and leadership skills and gave them the exposure to understand the topic from diverse perspectives. The interactive session came to an end at 11.00 a.m. with the vote of thanks proposed by Manohar Gonnabathual from the host school.
