A Mindful Session on Female Hygiene in Indian Education School

This informative session culminated in a Q and A session which further paved way to clarify the doubts raised by the students.

Providing adequate menstrual hygiene awareness and timely interventions to ensure good physical and mental health is imperative during the adolescent phase of any child. On this note Bhavans Indian Education School, Kuwait, under the aegis of the Department of Science organised a session on ‘Menstrual Hygiene’ as a part of student welfare program, on November 28, 2022, for the students of grades 5, 6 and 7.

The session commenced with a welcome note delivered by Ms. Arya Jain Kumar of grade 7G. Dr. Arthi Mary George, MBBS, DNBI (OBG, New Delhi), EBCOG-EFOG (Belgium) was the resource person of the day. She presented an overview of the menstrual cycle in quite a comprehensive manner that addressed the issues faced by the adolescent girls. In a nutshell she shared several tips to be observed during the menstrual periods. In her presentation she also highlighted the hygienic use of menstrual accessories and the good practices for the disposal of sanitary napkins. She briefed the students on the importance of taking care of one’s physical and mental health during the menstrual cycle. This informative session culminated in a Q and A session which further paved way to clarify the doubts raised by the students.

The session was graced by the Vice Principals, Mrs. Anselma Tessy Judeson and Mrs. Meenakshi Nayyar. Thus, the information and awareness gained from this mindful session on ‘Menstruation’ will hopefully empower the girls, boost their confidence and help them lead a healthy life without any concerns. The session came to an end with the vote of thanks by Nivedita Sharma of grade 7.
