Bhavans Bahrain Indian School Topped in Bahrain at PIRLS Examination
Bhavans Bahrain Indian School is on cloud nine as they added another feather in the cap by scoring the highest at the Progress in International Reading Literacy Study 2021 (PIRLS 2021) conducted under the aegis of the Ministry of Education for students of Grade IV.
It's a matter of pride that as per the International Benchmarks BIS is the only school in Bahrain who has received Advanced International Benchmark.
PIRLS 2021 was conducted in 57 countries. It is an ongoing international assessment program of students’ reading achievement in their fourth year of schooling—an important transition point in their development as readers. Conducted every five years since 2001, PIRLS is recognized as the global standard for assessing trends in reading achievement in the fourth grade.
These results help schools identify the reading literacy level and the factors associated with the proficient reading comprehension thereby, helping the educational institutions monitor their educational systems' effectiveness in a global context.
The results were declared in the honoring ceremony as held at Ministry of Education Hall, Isa Town. On behalf of Principal and management, Coordinator Dr. Preet Kamal Bhatnagar received the award from Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Juma, the Minister of Education, Kingdom of Bahrain.
Further, PIRLS teacher Ms. Shivani Barjatya was also felicitated with the certificate of outstanding performance from Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Juma, the Minister of Education, Kingdom of Bahrain and PIRLS coordinator.
The School Management applauded the efforts of the students and the teachers.
