Fresh snowfall drapes areas of Kashmir in white; check out photos straight from the paradise

The snowfall has severely affected the surface and air traffic, however, the tourists rejoiced as they enjoyed the fresh snow.

The residents of the Kashmir Valley woke up to heavy snowfall on Sunday (January), marking the first snowfall of 2021. The snow started laying a white cover on the valley at midnight. Due to snow, the authorities have suspended all vehicular traffic on the national highways of Kashmir. The air traffic has also been affected due to poor visibility and the accumulation of snow on the runway.

As per the India Meteorological Department (IMD), moderate to heavy snowfall is likely to continue till January 6 (Thursday). The valley is currently witnessing 40-day of harsh winter cold, locally known as 'Chillai Kalan'. The period will end on January 31.
