Giant 3D cat becomes Tokyo’s latest photo hotspot

The 3D cat was officially released on Monday, but it had brief promotional looks in the previous days that drew curious crowds to the curved LED 4K screen

Landing in Tokyo, a giant cat sleeps and meows, cautiously looking at the crowds gathered under the large high-tech screen on which it appears in 3D.

This white, black and orange cat peeks between one ad and another on a new digital billboard in Shinjuku, one of the Japanese capital's busiest shopping and transit districts.

The 3D cat was officially released on Monday, but it had brief promotional looks in the previous days that drew curious crowds to the curved LED 4K screen that spans over 155 square metres.

A passerby, who gave his name as Ryosuke, said the cat impressed him, "and I like its meow."

Nanami Isawa, a university student said, "He looks much more real than on YouTube. He’s a beauty! And he is much bigger than I thought."

A student, Emine Atajanova said, “It’s so cute. Actually it looks really real. I feel like when you look at social media, and the difference… It’s like really pretty. The cat is really cute.”
