Pakistan players seemed to have developed a knack of getting involved in comical run-outs. The comical run-outs have become a regular feature of Pakistan’s cricket. And on Friday, another instance of such a run-out was seen when Pakistan locked horns against Zimbabwe in the first of three-match ODI series.

Opener Imam-ul-Haq’s fine knock came to an end courtesy of the bizarre runout and not surprisingly, it went viral on social media in no time. The incident occurred in the 26th over of the innings, when facing Sikandar Raza’s delivery, Imam-ul-Haq steered the ball towards the backward point.

As soon as Imam-ul-Haq hit the shot, his partner Haris Sohail ran for a quick single. The Pakistan opener, however, was busy watching the ball. But before that, Imam-ul-Haq had hinted of a quick single which prompted Haris to run blindly towards the striker’s end.

A few feet away from the wicket, Haris realised he could not complete the run and ran backwards. At this point, both Pakistani batsmen were in the same direction and Imam-ul-Haq dived to reach the crease but could not save himself and had to return after scoring 58.

The fielder at the backward point threw the ball at the striker’s end but it was wide and the wicketkeeper missed it. The fielder at square leg quickly gathered the ball and hurled it to the bowler who did the rest while both the batsmen were at the striker’s end.
