MS Dhoni scripts IPL history by recording 200th appearance as Chennai Super Kings captain

After registering their first win of the new season, Dhoni's CSK squared off against Samson-led Rajasthan at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

Legendary cricketer and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper MS Dhoni added another feather in his illustrious cap by achieving another captaincy milestone on Monday. Regarded as one of the greatest leaders in the modern era of the gentlemen's game, Dhoni scripted IPL history by recording his 200th appearance as the leader of the three-time champions in domestic cricket's biggest extravaganza. The talismanic leader of the Chennai-based franchise achieved the historic feat when CSK locked horns with Rajasthan Royals (RR) in match No.12 of the IPL 2021.

After registering their first win of the new season, Dhoni's CSK squared off against Samson-led Rajasthan at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Dhoni, who has been the beating heart of the Yellow-Brigade, completed 200 matches as the franchise's captain when he arrived for the traditional coin toss at Wankhede. For the record, Dhoni is the only player to lead an IPL franchise in 200 matches.

Speaking at the toss, Dhoni announced that CSK have named an unchanged lineup against Rajasthan Royals. The CSK skipper was also quizzed about CSK opener Ruturaj Gaikwad's form in the 14th season of the cash-rich league. "No changes for us. Same team. Getting out on good deliveries is okay. Last year would have taught him (Ruturaj) on the highs and lows. As support staff, you can motivate all you want but once you are out there, you are on your own," Dhoni said.
