Pragyan Ojha explains why MS Dhoni never wishes good luck to players before a match

Ojha went on to add about the time when Dhoni told why he doesn't wish players before a match.

The gentleman's cricket has witnessed a plethora of changes in the past, but what hasn't changed is cricketers and the superstitions that they follow. Former Australian skipper Steve Smith, for example, has this superstition where he doesn't watch his shoelaces while batting. Smith's pads are customised in a manner where they hide the shoelaces.

Indian cricketers are also known to be superstitious. From wearing their favorite shirt to following a particular routine before a match, Indian cricketers follow all sorts of superstitions.

As per a revelation made by former Indian spinner Pragyan Ojha, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper MS Dhoni never wishes good luck to his players before a match.

MS Dhoni scripts IPL history by recording 200th appearance as Chennai Super Kings captain

"MSD will never wish his team members 'all the best' or 'good luck' before a game. Because he feels, if he wishes somebody quite a few players he has wished his players during a game, it ended up in a very different way. That's maybe why he has stopped it." Ojha told Sports Today.

Ojha went on to add about the time when Dhoni told why he doesn't wish players before a match.

"Once we had a conversation about people having different kinds of sentiments and that's when he said he never wishes his players before a game. And before the game, none of the players from the opposition to go him. They don't want any wishes from him," Ojha said.

After a forgettable IPL 2020 season where CSK failed to qualify for the playoffs, the Yellow Army has bounced back strongly in IPL 2021 where they have won two out of their three matches. CSK will take on Kolkata Knight Riders in Match No. 15 of the tournament on Wednesday. A win against Eoin Morgan & Co. would see CSK occupy the top spot in the IPL 2021 points table.

After a win against the Royals in the previous match, Dhoni said he keeps working on his fitness to keep up with the younger guys in the team.
