Reportedly, the shinkari melam artistes were arranged to lead the newlyweds to the hall.

The bride Shilpa, daughter of Chowallur natives Sreekumar and Rashmi, is a trained chenda artiste. The groom is Devanand, a native of Kannur. In the video, the bride is seen beating the chenda in rhythm along with the fellow performers, while the groom also joined the act and played the cymbals.
