KTM 1290 Super Adventure global debut soon

The new 1290 Super Adventure will receive a couple of new body panels

KTM has been working on a range of new motorcycles that will be introduced this year. One of this is the new 1290 Super Adventure which is expected o be revealed next week on 26 January. In case you didn't know, 1290 Super Adventure is the company's flagship adventure motorcycle that is available in R and S variants, where S is the touring version while R is the off-road biased model. KTM has been working on the ADV's new iteration for quite some while and we have seen numerous spy shots surfacing on the interweb. And of late, the company even inadvertently shared some crucial details about 2021 1290 Super Adventure's S and R variants. As gauged from the leaked details, the adventure bike will be significantly different from the outgoing model.

The word on the street is that the new 1290 Super Adventure will receive a couple of new body panels, most likely around the fuel tank. The bike, like the new Super Duke R, will also get a redesigned headlamp cluster that will double-up as ram intake. For improved cooling, the 1290 Super Adventure will rely on two separate radiators instead of a single unit. And as expected, the R variant will feature tubeless tyres with wire-spoke rims while the S trim will use alloy wheels.

The existing 1290 Super Adventure range is quite loaded with electronic features but the new variant will be even more feature-rich. The bike will get a 7-inch TFT instrument console instead of 6.5-inch unit and the S variant is likely to receive a radar-based cruise control system, making it one of the few vehicles in the world to get this provision. And as before, it will have lean-angle sensitive traction control, tyre pressure monitoring system, a dedicated offroad mode, offroad traction control, offroad ABS, different riding modes, and cruise control. The new KTM 1290 Super Adventure will be powered by an upgraded 1,301 cc twin-cylinder engine that does duties on the new Super Duke R. However, this powerplant will be detuned to develop around 160 bhp and 138 Nm, which is 2 Nm less than the outgoing model's peak torque.
