7-seater Kia Sonet to be revealed this week
The engine -- the three-row Kia Sonet SUV is expected to be offered with only one engine option
Folks, some interesting news to start off the new week with -- Kia Motors will reportedly unveil a three row Sonet SUV later this week. Yep, new media reports have emerged, claiming the South Korean automaker will unveil the 7 seater Kia Sonet SUV on 8 April. But before you get your hopes up, allow us to tell you that for now, the upcoming car will be unveiled in Indonesia, if at all. Interestingly, the SUV set to become available for retail there will be made in India though. In fact, the five-seater Sonet sold there too is also manufactured at Kia Motors India's facility in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh. As for the upcoming Kia SUV's India launch -- folks there's no word about it just yet.
Now, on to the SUV in question and how it will be different from the 5 seater model. For starters, it will, of course, get a third row of seats; however, if reports are to be believed, the 7 seater Sonet's dimensions will be the same as that of the five-seater model, meaning that last row won't be exactly comfortable. That reminds us -- the 5 seater model retailed in Indonesia is slightly longer than the Kia Sonet SUV in India.
Finally, the engine -- the three-row Kia Sonet SUV is expected to be offered with only one engine option, borrowed from the list of the Indonesia-spec 5 seater model's engine options. Okay, okay, we will cut to the chase -- the upcoming Kia SUV will likely come powered by a 1.5-liter petrol engine paired to either a six-speed manual gearbox or a CVT automatic.
