Citroën C5 Aircross SUV India launch today: Price expectation

Later today, French automaker Citroën will launch its first-ever car in India -- the C5 Aircross SUV. The company, however, set up operations and started bracing for the launch of the first Citroën car in India a while ago. Just clarifying; but we digress -- let us focus on the star of the day, i.e. Citroen C5 Aircross SUV. Now, we already know pretty much all there is to know about it, including the engine options. But before we get to that and answering the key question -- What will be Citroën C5 Aircross' price in India -- allow us to first quickly walk you through what we know about the upcoming SUV in India so far.

Set to face competition from cars such as the Jeep Compass, Volkswagen T-Roc, etc., C5 Aircross will be available across two trim options, namely, Feel and Shine. From what we know so far, Citroën has equipped its upcoming SUV in India with pretty much all the features one would expect from a car in this segment and will offer them as standard across both trims.

The SUV, which comes to India as a completely knocked-down (CKD) vehicle and is then locally-assembled at the company's manufacturing facility in Tamil Nadu, will come powered by just one, diesel engine. It is a 2.0-litre motor that delivers a maximum power output of 176 bhp and a peak torque of 400 Nm. The motor will be offered in combination with an eight-speed automatic gearbox. As for Citroen C5 Aircross's fuel-efficiency -- it is rated at 18.6 km/l.

Now, the million dollar question -- Citroen C5 Aircross SUV's price in India. Now based on the fact that it arrives in India as a CKD unit and is also loaded with nearly all bells and whistles for a car its size, we reckon the new C5 Aircross' price will start somewhere around ₹28.5 lakh (ex-showroom).
