Toyota Innova Crysta diesel bookings halted temporarily

The company has instructed its dealers not to take bookings for the diesel variant of the MPV. Bookings for the petrol variant will continue.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has announced that the company is presently suspending orders for the diesel variant of the Innova Crysta. The decision has been taken due to the increasing waiting periods of the car. Toyota will continue to take orders for the petrol variant.

The Toyota Innova was originally launched in 2005, and has dominated the MPV market since. In a statement clarifying its decision, Toyota Kirloskar Motor said, “Due to a very high demand pattern which has resulted in an increased waiting period for the diesel variant of Innova Crysta, TKM has decided to temporarily stop taking orders for the diesel variant.”

The Toyota Innova Crysta is offered with the 2.4-litre diesel motor which makes 150bhp and is available with both 5-speed manual or six-speed automatic gearboxes. The petrol variant comes with a 2.7-litre motor which makes 166bhp and comes with either a 5-speed manual or 6-speed automatic gearbox.

Prices for the Toyota Innova Crysta range from Rs 19.5 lakh to Rs 26 lakh (ex-showroom). Toyota has further clarified that the company is making efforts for the customers who have already made bookings for the Innova Crysta Diesel to receive their cars at the earliest.
