Online learning still a dream: 2.6 lakh students in Kerala do not have cable TV or internet access 

The authorities are planning to provide the technological facility to the students at a nearby school or library

According to a survey conducted by the education department, over 2.6 lakh students studying in Kerala do not have access to the internet or cable TV connection.

With an aim of starting online education, Samagra Siksha Kerala conducted the survey among 43.76 lakh pre-primary to Plus Two students in the state schools and found that more than 2.6 lakh students had no facilities for online classes.

The survey was conducted at a time, when the Kerala government was deciding to start online classes from June 1.

The highest number of students, 21,653 without the technological facility, came in from Wayanad, which accounted for 15% of the total number. Alappuzha had the least number with 6,683 students, which accounts for 2.94% for the total percentage, reports The Hindu.

The authorities are planning to provide the technological facility to the students at a nearby school or library so that students surrounding the are can avail the facility.

Meanwhile, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan confirmed that the remaining exams for SSLC and Higher Secondary exams will be conducted as per the scheduled postponed date between May 26 and 30.
