'Nanna in the spotlight': 99-year-old woman becomes the face of US beauty brand, wins hearts

Hailing from California, she has become the face of an American beauty brand name 'Saie', breaking stereotypes.

A 99-year-old woman named Helene Simon just proved to the world that age is just a number. Hailing from California, she has become the face of an American beauty brand name 'Saie', breaking stereotypes.

Interestingly, the brand is run by her granddaughter, Laney Crowell. The company was looking for models when a user suggested that it should be her Simon herself who should be the brand's face. She made up her mind to get her into the mix.

However, it was extremely difficult convincing her. The elderly woman felt that she may not be the right fit. Speaking to PEOPLE magazine she said, "I'd seen all beautiful models, and I was no competition for that."

Despite her grandmother's hesitance, Crowell's mind was made. "I actually was very strategic about it. I enlisted my dad, my aunts, my cousins, my cousins' significant others, my husband, I think I even had my daughters- Nanna's great-grandchildren," she told the magazine.

What eventually convinced her was the fact that the photographer who clicked her photos had taken basketball player, Stephen Curry's pictures as well. He happens to be her nanna's favourite player!

Overall, it was a rewarding experience for Helene Simon. With all her loved ones around, this was something that she will never ever forget. "It has been a fun experience and put a little pizazz in my life," she adds.

With her picture going viral on Instagram and other social media platforms, Simon has been getting only love and appreciation. A user commented, "Go Nanna!!! I’m not crying, you’re crying!" Another user called her a 'beauty.'
