Eating paan is a popular custom, especially in Northern India. Apart from the traditional flavours, other experimental takes have also appeared that are modernizing this classic dish.
Now, a 'pure gold' paan is invented by a paan parlour named 'Yamu's Panchaayat' situated in New Delhi's Connaught Place.
Posted on the parlour's Instagram page, a woman is seen making it. The ingredients used are sweet chutney, gulkand, dates, cardamom, desiccated coconut etc. Towards the end, she puts 'gold varq' on the betel leaf and serves it with a cherry and coconut-covered chocolate.
Speaking of the chocolate, the coconut flavoured sweet is actually 'Raffaelo' that is put inside the paan as well to make it sweeter.
"This is Raffaelo Gold Paan worth Rs 600," the caption of the video said, along with where it is available and what the video entails.
From chocolate paan to fire paan, the list of such varieties is endless. Giving it the golden Midas touch is taking this to another level altogether.
Since it was posted, the video went viral. Not just on Instagram, but it was shared on other social media platforms as well.
Indeed, desi netizens were intrigued by this. They reacted in the comments section. However, the reactions were divided. Some actually liked the idea and posted a lot of heart emojis.
There were some who were just no sold by the idea. "Aunty ji ne toh sach me pooch ke laga diya choona," one user said. Another user called it a 'waste of money.'
