What is the mystery circling around singer Balabhaskar’s accident?

Was it an accident or a well-executed murder?

The celebrity violinist cum singer, Balabhaskar passed away after a week long battle at the hospital in September 2018 due to a fatal accident on the way back to Thiruvanathapuram from a temple trip at Thrissur. Balabhaskar, along with his wife Lekshmi and their two-year-old daughter Tejasvini were in the car which hit a tree as the driver reportedly dozed off while driving in the early hours. While they were rushed to a nearby hospital, Tejasvini, unfortunately, could not be saved. Balabhaskar passed away on October 2, 2018 after battling for life

Meanwhile, Kerala Crime Branch which was investigating Balabhaskar’s death began interrogating two men who were arrested in a gold smuggling case. The men named Prakash Thampi and Vishnu, alleged that they were closely associated with the late violinist.

What seemed to be a fatal accident, now opens up to a pandora’s box of mysteries after Soby George, a sound recordist at Cochin Kalabhavan came up with his revelations of what he knew of the accident,

Malayala Manorama recently reported that Soby George had passed by Balabhaskar’s accident site 10 minutes before the fatal incident happened where he saw two men under suspicious circumstances. He reportedly witnessed one man running away while the other attempting to push a bike near the accident site.

Soby added that he immediately rang up Prakash Thampi, and told him what he saw. But Prakash allegedly did not entertain himself to hearing what Soby said. “When I told him what I saw, he spoke against it and didn’t believe what I said,” Soby told Manorama News.

Few days back after Prakash Thampi, got arrested for a gold smuggling case from Thiruvanathapuram International Airport, media began to pull up Soby’s statement about Prakash.

The duo, Prakash and Vishnu allege that they had been working with violinist Balabhaskar. It is believed that while one of them booked events for the singer, the other looked after his finances.

The singer’s father KC Unni allege that the duo has some involvement in his son’s death. Meanwhile, Driver Arjun claimed that Balabhaskar was driving the car during the accident, though the violinist's wife refuted the claim. Lekshmi has reiterated that Arjun was driving the car at the time of the accident. "Balabhaskar was sleeping in the back seat, while my daughter and I were sitting in the front," quotes Manorama.

Lekshmi has reportedly said that she did not know of Prakash’s and Vishnu’s gold smuggling dealings and that Balabhaskar got acquainted with Prakash at the gym as he was the singer’s instructor. Prakash became the singer’s programme coordiantor when the previous one left abroad. Lekshmi recently put up a Facebook post clarifying that her husband did not have any illegal links with these two men.

It was the conflicting statement of Lekshmi and driver Arjun that led police to further investigate the matter and look into forensic tests of the accident. Further development of the case would be out only after the results of the scientific tests.
