'Have No Plan To Impose Lockdown Again,' Says Arvind Kejriwal As Coronavirus Cases Rise In Delhi

The novel coronavirus has been growing at an alarming rate in the national capital. The deadly virus has affected over 41,000 people and claimed the lives of more than 1,300 in Delhi so far.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday clarified that the state government has "no plan" to implement the lockdown again to control the coronavirus crisis in the national capital.

"Many people are speculating whether another lockdown in Delhi in being planned. There are no such plans," Kejriwal said in a tweet.

The statement from the Delhi Chief Minister comes after several reports claimed that the state government might reimpose the lockdown in the national capital to control the pandemic in the city-state.

The novel coronavirus has been growing at an alarming rate in the national capital. The deadly virus has affected over 41,000 people and claimed the lives of more than 1,300 in Delhi so far.

According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the active number of coronavirus cases in Delhi stands at 24,032 while more than 15,000 have been cured and discharged from hospitals.

Earlier, Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain had also dismissed the reports that the lockdown will be reimposed in the national capital. "No, the lockdown will not be extended," Jain was quoted as saying.
