PM Modi addresses the nation: Everyone should fight together to avoid a lockdown situation
"We need to fight this deadly second wave together," says PM Modi
Prime Minister Narendra Modi addresses the nation today at 8.45 pm amid rising covid cases. PM Modi assures that the country would only into lockdown as a last resort to save the country from the pandemic. As on now, at the moment, a nation-wide lockdown has been ruled out.
But he also mentioned that we have to avoid a sitution that would lead to a lockdown.
"There is a severe shortage of oxygen and we are working to overcome this deficiency. We are working to increase supply and manufacture of oxygen, says" PM Modi.
"As soon as the cases surged, pharma companies increased the production of medicines. Our drug production has increased and it will be increased further. I spoke to pharma companies yesterday and they are all committed. We are blessed to have such a big pharma sector," says PM Modi.
A night curfew has been imposed in Uttarakhand between 7pm-5am, starting Tuesday. In Urban areas, shops are to be shut down by 2pm and only essential services are exempted from the curfew restrictions. Public transport and restaurants will be functional with 50% capacity while gyms, spas and swimming pools will remain completely closed. A Covid-19 negative report is mandatory for those entring the state.
Today, PM Modi interacted with vaccine manufacturers and asked them to continuously scale up their production capacity to inoculate all Indians in the shortest possible time.
PM Modi said the private sector would play a more active role in the vaccination drive in the coming days.
