COVID-19 hasn't yet touched Kerala's Bonacaud

300 people of 170 families reside at the guest house for tea estate workers here.

Of the 16 wards of Vithura Grama Panchayath, Ward no 7, Bonacaud, has not had a single COVID-19 positive case. Bonacaud is the base station of the famous peak, Agasthyarkoodam in the Agasthya hills. The Agasthya hill range is famous for its abundance of rare herbs and medicinal plants.

Banacaud is the land of tea estate workers. Even during the second wave of COVID-19 now, Bonacaud is safe. 300 people of 170 families reside at the guest house for tea estate workers here.

Most of the people here do not leave Bonacaud unnecessarily! Though few people who are permanent residents of Bonacaud, staying else where have been tested positive for coronavirus, the current residents of the hill station are safe.

Bonacaud is situated 25kms away fom Vithura town, across the forest area. Despite the surge in cases in the nearby Thiruvanathapuram city, the residents of Bonacaud were self-sufficient with all the essentials available in their area and this has benefitted them.
