Joel, a resident of Kerala's Thiruvalla, left home to fix the wedding date. But as lockdown was announced, he returned home only after marrying his bride, Della from Kerala's Pathanamthitta. Although the wedding was unexpected, the bride and groom were happy that all the ceremonies went smoothly.

Mother's name to be included on marriage certificates for the first time in England and Wales

Joel and Della's engagement ceremony was schduled for May 6, 2021 and their marriage on May 8, 2021. The news of the lockdown in Kerala came after the engagement ceremony. Since the Kerala government announced a statewide complete lockdown from May 8, the couple decided not to wait further and got married on May 6 itself.

Then things moved real quick. The wedding venue at Kumbanad St. Thomas Mar Thoma Church was ready by 5.50 pm.

The marriage had been postponed twice before, in connection with the Covid protocol. As both families decided, the marriage ceremony took place, on the day of the engagement itself. Following COVID protocol, only close family members took part in the marriage ceremony. The catering people who arranged food for the engagement itself were called for the marriage reception. Joel works in Canada while Della is a Software Engineer.
