Man says UP police hammered nails in hand, foot for not wearing mask; police denies

His mother has urged senior police officials to look into the matter and appealed for justice.

In a shocking incident, the police in Uttar Pradesh's district allegedly nailed hands and feet of a man who was not wearing a facemask. As per India Today report, the incident took place in Bareilly and the man's mother has alleged that three cops mistreated her son and took him away.

The woman said that when she reached the local police post, she was told that her son has been taken elsewhere. After hours of search, the man was reportedly found grievously injured and his hands and feet were nailed. The incident took place in Baradari area of Bareilly.

The woman alleged that when she complained about this mistreatment to the police, the cops threatened to arrest her son. She has urged senior police officials to look into the matter and appealed for justice.

Speaking about the case, SSP Rohit Sajwan said, "The man is an old accused who has been booked in several cases in different police stations. He is leveling these allegations against the police to escape charges. His allegations have found to be incorrect."
