'Aao gale lagte hain': Railways minister Ashwini Vaishnaw hugs official on finding out he is from his college

Vaishnaw graduated from MBM Engineering College in 1991 with a gold medal in an electronic and communications engineering course.

Ashwini Vaishnaw, who took charge as the Union Railways Minister on July 8 after the cabinet reshuffle, was seen hugging an official from the Indian Railways signal department after finding out they both belonged studied at MBM Engineering College in Jodhpur.

A video of the newly sworn-in Railways Minister hugging the engineer has gone viral on social media. The 45-second clip shows someone from the department pointing out that the engineer studied in the same college as Vaishnaw. On hearing this, Vaishnaw says, "Arrey waah! Wah ji wah... Aao aao, gale lagte hain."

The newly appointed minister also jokes that the official should call him "boss", as this is how juniors at the MBM Engineering College used to address their seniors.

"Aaj se boss bologe hume. Junior na boss bolta hai senior ko. Naam se ni bulate. Sir nahi bolte, boss bolte hain," Viashnaw jokingly said.

The video which is being shared across social media platforms has been viewed more than 6,000 times.

Vaishnaw graduated from MBM Engineering College in 1991 with a gold medal in an electronic and communications engineering course. The 51-year-old minister is also an alumnus of the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur and Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

Vaishnaw is a Rajya Sabha MP for Odisha and former IAS officer of the 1994-batch. He has handled important responsibilities for over 15 years and is particularly known for his contribution to the public-private partnership (PPP) framework in infrastructure.

Vaishnaw has also been given charge of the Electronics and Information Technology Ministry.
