Also, Kerala had last recorded more than 30,000 cases in a day on May 20 when the figure was 30,491 cases.

Kerala Wednesday recorded a whopping 31,445 fresh COVID-19 cases. The state health department said 215 fatalities and 20,271 recoveries were also recorded over the past 24 hours.

On Tuesday, Kerala had recorded 24,296 COVID-19 cases. It was the second time yesterday since May 27 when Kerala had recorded over 24,000 cases of coronavirus in a day. That day, Kerala’s daily tally stood at 24,166 cases.

Also, Kerala had last recorded more than 30,000 cases in a day on May 20 when the figure was 30,491 cases.

Kerala now has recorded a cumulative 38,83,429 COVID-19 cases and 19,972 fatalities.

The test positivity rate (TPR) in Kerala Wednesday stood at 19.03 per cent. Post the Onam festival, experts had said, the TPR would increase to over 20 per cent and also that the number of cases would also mark a significant jump.

Kerala has been recording around 20,000 COVID-19 cases almost daily since July 27 when the Bakrid celebrations had ended.

Meanwhile, the total number of recoveries in Kerala stands at 36,92,628 while there are 1,70,292 active cases.

Among districts, Ernakulam recorded the highest number with 4,048 cases, followed by Thrissur (3,865), Kozhikode (3,680), Malappuram (3,502), Palakkad (2,562), Kollam (2,479), Kottayam (2,050), Kannur (1,930) Alappuzha (1,874), Thiruvananthapuram (1,700), Idukki (1,166) Pathanamthitta (1,008) and Wayanad (962), PTI reported.
