In address to nation, PM Modi says three new Indian farm laws will be repealed

"I apologise to the countrymen that we were unable to take a section of farmers into confidence," said the PM.

In address to nation, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said constitutional process to repeal farm laws will begin soon.

The PM looked to make a fresh beginning and said new initiatives will be rolled out. He also appealed to farmers to call off their protests and return home as the government has decided to repeal the three farm laws.

"I apologise to the countrymen that we were unable to take a section of farmers into confidence," said the PM.

"We tried at all levels to take them into confidence. We were also prepared to modify the sections that they had objections about. However, despite our best efforts, some farmers were not convinced about the laws," Modi added.
