The plea is likely to be listed for hearing on Monday. His previous plea was denied by a special court in Delhi a day earlier.

The trial court had denied relief to Karti Chidambaram and two others, saying the offence was of a very serious nature. The court had also vacated the interim protection from arrest granted to the accused during the pendency of the anticipatory bail application.

It has directed them to join the probe as and when they are called upon by the investigating officer.

Karti Chidambaram has been accused of taking a bribe of Rs 50 lakh from a Punjab-based firm through his associate in order to facilitate the visas of 263 Chinese nationals. His father, P. Chidambaram, was the Union Home Minister when the alleged crime took place.

However, he has maintained that his father is the actual target of the central agencies.

The Congress MP said, "They want to target my father who is the principal critic of the government and, as they are unable to counter his arguments, they are coming after me."
