Faridabad woman says her son died by suicide after getting bullied, sexually assaulted at school. Heartbreaking story

The bullying had adversely affected him and he even dreaded going back to school for exams after his holidays

Aarti Malhotra's son Arvey jumped to his death almost six months ago, in February and now she is demanding justice for him. Aarti says the reason for his untimely and tragic death was continuous bullying at school over his sexuality. She alleges, despite complaints to the authorities, the matter fell on deaf ears. In a post shared by Humans Of Bombay, Arvey's mother narrated his years of ordeal and how he was continuously bullied by his peers and even sexually assaulted.

Aarti said in a post by Humans Of Bombay that the bullying started when he was in the sixth standard. "The bullying started in 6th grade. Arvey would cry, 'The boys call me a chakka.' I was a teacher in the same school, DPS. I'd complain to the authorities but they'd say, 'He's a nautanki!' I'd tell him things would get better. He tried to be 'manly' by playing volleyball. But it wasn't for him. He loved art & music; that made him happy. But at every step, he was mocked for being 'feminine'," she said.

By the time Arvey reached the 9th standard, things had worsened for him at school. He confessed to his mother that he was blindfolded by boys in his class and he was made to strip.

"By 9th grade, things worsened. He came home panicking & breathing heavilyhe'd read a chapter about bullying which triggered him. He confessed, 'The boys in my class blindfolded me and made me strip. I can't take it anymore'; I was shocked; my son's bullies became sexual assaulters. The school refused to take action; they failed us. It broke my heart. We visited multiple therapists. He was diagnosed with depression & lost his interest in art. In 10th grade, he got diagnosed with dyslexia, studying got difficult for him; his boards were round the corner," Aarti told Humans Of Bombay.

The bullying had adversely affected him and he even dreaded going back to school for exams after his holidays. "One day, he said, 'Ma, I like wearing nail paint & jewelry. I said, 'Be who you are!' I was glad he was happy! But it was short-lived. When school reopened for exams, he got triggered. He said, 'I don't want to give the exam tomorrow'. He kept crying, so I texted him, 'It's ok, skip your paper.' But he didn't reply."

"An hour later, I got a call from my society, 'Come home, Arvey did something!' I told them to take him to the hospital and when I got there, he was declared dead; he'd jumped from the 15th floor. His suicide note told me to find a new job & that I was the best mom ever. I sobbed; my entire world was taken away from me," Aarti said while sharing her heartbreaking story.

Aarti is fighting to get justice for her son Arvey. She also has an Instagram handle dedicated to her son where she shares regular updates about her son's case.

Aarti Malhotra has been terminated from school and the teacher accused of harassment was arrested for a few days before being bailed out. She'll rejoin school soon.
