Eighty days after the murder of singer and Congress leader Sidhu Moose Wala, his father Balkar Singh has alleged that some of his close friends and politicians were behind the assassination. He said that he would release the names of these people soon.

Balkar Singh said that Sidhu Moosewala was murdered as he had risen through the ranks of popularity in a very short time and some people could not tolerate this. "Even the government was misled. Some people wanted him to make all deals in his career through them. But Sidhu was independent. This they could not accept and had him killed," Balkar Singh said.

On May 29, singer-politician Sidhu Moose Wala was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Punjab's Mansa district. Sidhu Moose Wala was shot dead a day after the state government curtailed his security cover. His cousin and a friend, who were travelling in a jeep with him, were also injured in the attack. Ankit Sirsa, a member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang shot dead singer-politician Sidhu Moose Wala in Jawaharke village. The autopsy report revealed that he died within 15 minutes of being shot at and had 19 bullets pumped into his body.
