Watch: Indigo pilot delivers an emotional speech as captain father retires
Retiring is an emotional moment for the person who is giving up a job they have done their entire life, and it is equally emotional for the family members.
A video of a daughter, who is a pilot, shows her delivering an emotional speech as she flies her captain father one last time to the home base, as he is retiring.
It was a moment of celebration that turned into an emotional one, as a pilot daughter extended wishes for a retiring captain father. Captain CK Vyas, who recently retired from his post of a chopper pilot with Himalyaputra Aviation Ltd, Delhi. Vyas was a pilot for 43 years, before joining a corporate firm, he was in Indian Air Force.
For his retirement, his youngest daughter, Captain Chanu Vyas, who is the First officer with Indigo currently, delivered a speech in the plane that she was flying. She was flying the plane going from Raipur to New Delhi, but it was not any other flight, her father, Captain CK Vyas was also on board the same flight. She started the speech by calling it a "very special day" and "an emotional day."
While delivering the speech, Chanu got emotional and broke down in the first few minutes itself. She said, "I am flying decorated Ex-Indian Air Force officer and my father...Captain Chandra Kant Vyas. It's a special day for him as he is retiring today after flying for 43 years, 27 years in the Indian Air Force. It's actually an emotional day. He is an helicopter pilot."
She also described it as an honour that she is flying him back to his "home base" today. She continued, "It's a great honour for me to be flying him back to his home base on his last day. I wish congratulations daddy, for being an inspiring body of work and a committed career as a strength. We are very proud of you, and we are very happy for you for achieving this milestone with flying colours. We wish you a very happy and a healthy retirement. Enjoy this new chapter with the same zest and passion. I didn't know that I am going to be so emotional. Just by looking at daddy I am getting emotional."
She goes ahead to thank everyone aboard the flight for being a part of their special day. The emotional speech was followed by a thunderous applause from all the passengers. She even presented a small token of appreciation to her father as the passengers kept clapping.
