PM Modi wears a special blue jacket in Parliament and it is all about being green
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has always been at the forefront to make the fight against climate change a people's movement. He has walked the talk too, seen plogging at a beach in Mahabalipuram in 2019. On Wednesday, PM Modi donned a blue jacket that had his green message written all over it. The blue jacket he wore to Parliament was special because it had been made from recycled PET bottles.
PM Modi reached Parliament to deliver a Motion of Thanks to the President's address in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday.
The Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) presented the jacket to PM Modi at the India Energy Week in Bengaluru. More than 10 crore PET bottles will be recycled to make sustainable garments for IOC employees and armed forces.
Recently, the government also launched the National Green Hydrogen Mission with an outlay of Rs 19,700 crore, which will facilitate the transition of the economy to low carbon intensity, reduce dependence on fossil fuel imports and make the country adopt technology and market leadership in this sector.
Furthermore, in the Budget, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman provided an outlay of Rs 35,000 crore to achieve energy transition and net zero objectives and listed green growth among seven priorities of the government.
