Man in police custody stabs woman doctor to death in Kerala
A woman doctor in Kerala died after she was brutally attacked by a man in police custody on Wednesday morning. Vandana Das, 22, a house surgeon at Government Taluk hospital in Kottarakkara was attacked with scissors while she was treating Sandeep, a school teacher, who was under police custody in connection with an assault case. Sandeep, had reportedly created a ruckus in his home and was brought to the hospital by policemen after he suffered injuries.
The incident happened around 4.30 AM when policemen attached to Pooyappalli station took Sandeep to the hospital. The man was reportedly in a violent condition. He attacked Vandana. She was immediately taken to KIMS hospital in Thiruvananthapuram. She had suffered serious injuries on her neck and back and succumbed to injuries around 9.30 AM.
Hospital security and home guard Alexkutty and policeman Manilal, who suffered stab injuries, took treatment.
Dr Vandana was stabbed six time. She hailed from Kaduthuruthy in Kottayam.
