Rare yellow turtle rescued in Odisha's Balasore, handed over to forest department

The turtle's shell and body is yellow in colour. It is believed to be a very rare turtle species.

A rare yellow turtle was rescued from a pond in Simulia village in Odisha's Balasore district on Tuesday. The villagers rescued it and put it in a tub filled with water.

The turtle was spotted by a youth from the village, who gathered other villagers, and then they rescued it.

Later, the turtle was handed over to forest department officials.

Notably, a similar yellow-coloured turtle was rescued from Balasore's Sujanpur village in July, 2020.
