Writer, screenwriter, and actor Madampu Kunjukuttan passes away. He was 81 years old. He was under treatment for Covid in Thrissur. His real name is Madampu Sankaran Namboothiri. He was born in 1941 in Kiralur, Thrissur district.
Madampu Kunjukuttan is a writer who has gained a lot of attention through his single novel Drishti. Apart from this, he has written the novels Ashwatthamavu, Mahaprasthanam, Avighnamasthu, Entaro Mahanubhavulu, Nishadam, Pathalam, Aryavartham, and Amritasya Putrah. He has also written screenplays for a few films with director Jayaraj. He has written scripts for films like Deshadanam, Karunam, Safalam, Gaurishankaram, and Makalkku. In 2000, he won the National Film Award for Best Screenplay for his screenplay for Jayaraj’s Karunam. He has also acted in films like Pothen Vava, Vadakkunnathan, Agninakshatram, Kaatuvannu Vilichappol, Karunam, Agnisakshi, Chithrashalabham, Deshadanam, Aaramthampuran, and Ashwatthamavu.
In 2001, he contested the Assembly elections in Kodungallur with the support of the BJP. He was born on June 21, 1942, in Madamp Mana, Kiralur, Thrissur district.
He is a Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award winner. The death of Madampu Kunjukuttan is a great loss to the literary and cultural world. His most famous works are Bhrasht, Ashvatmavu, and Mahaprasthanam.
