Malayalam actress Chitra dies of cardiac arrest in Chennai
The Malayalam film industry woke up to the sad news of Chitra's death on Saturday, August 21. The actress, who has worked in more than 100 films, died of a heart attack at her residence in Chennai. She was 56. Chitra began her career as a child artist with director K Balachander's film Apoorva Raagangal in 1975 and went on to work with some of the biggest names in the Malayalam and Tamil industries.
CHITRA DIED OF HEART ATTACK AT 56 IN CHENNAI
Chitra, who is popularly known as Nallennai Chithra, died of a heart attack on Saturday, August 21. According to reports, she was with her family at her Saligramam residence in Chennai, when she suffered a cardiac arrest. She was 56. The actress made her debut as an adult in the Malayalam film Aattakalasam with Mohanlal and Prem Nazir in 1983. She is survived by her husband Vijayaraghavan and daughter Mahalakshmi.
Chitra, a popular actress in the Malayalam and Tamil industry, began her acting career as a child artist. She has been a part of popular films like Panchgani, Aval Appadithan, Auto Raja, Krodham, Chinna Poove Mella Pesu, Oru Vadakkan Veeragatha, Amaram, Nayam Vyakthamakkunnu and Ekalavyan, among others. She took a break from films after marriage. Chitra returned to the industry with films such as Mazhavillu and Soothradharan.
