Kerala movie theatre gets soundproof 'crying room' for parents with infants
A government-run film theatre complex in Kerala has set up a soundproof 'crying room' where parents can watch movies without disturbing moviegoers. Kerala State film Development Corporation's (KSFDC) Kairali theatre complex in Thiruvananthapuram has built a special room 'Crying Room' for parents with babies.
In case, a child cries and creates disturbance for the other audience, then parents can take their child to this room and can view the movie from inside the room through a glass window.
Equipped with a crib and a diaper-changing facility, one can enjoy the movie in the spacious room while taking care of the baby.
“It is very rare for parents who come to the theatre with their children to enjoy a movie. Children who are not used to the darkness, sound, and light of the theatre get upset and parents have to leave the theatre. But now there is no need to leave the theatre if the baby cries while watching the movie," Kerala cultural Minister VN Vasavan said.
"KSFDC has set up a crying room at Kairali theatre complex, Thiruvananthapuram as a part of converting government theatres into women and children-friendly theatres," he added. The minister also added that they are working to extend the cry rooms facility to more theatres in Kerala.
"The sound-proof cry room has a crib and diaper-changing facility. In addition, arrangements have been made to watch movies without any difficulty in the cry room with the baby. Congratulations to KSFDCE who worked behind this initiative," he wrote.
