Always Ma

A tribute to my mother; An expose on how amazing she is

My mother will tell you I'm obsessed with pregnant women. So will my friends. I sometimes walk around with my school bag the other way round to make a fake preggo belly and I've realised that you can not see the stairs as you climb down. I have also given birth to 4 imaginary children. Go figure.
So it was natural for me to ask this. Because in almost all movies where a baby is born, immediately after the birth, the mother wants to hold the kid. So I asked my ma " O Mother dear, did you feel the overflowing compassion towards me when I was born. Did you hold me in your arms, gazed lovingly at my wrinkly little face ?"
"No I was sick and I was dying of pain and I wanted to take a bath. And I wanted to sleep."
Yep.
I wasn’t even disappointed. Something most people don’t know is while coming out, we literally rip our mothers vaginas; so much that they put stitches there. I mean is it so hard to just be grateful to our mothers?
Back to My mother -
This is how she is.
She tells it like it is.

Quite unlike how the mothers are usually portrayed, my mother is a total badass. So much more, than just "my mother" though. She is Shelley Marwaha. And she means the world to me. She is not famous. Probably your mother is not too. Most of our mothers aren’t. But we love them. Mothers. More than 12 year olds could love One Direction. More than us potterheads love Snape. (You must know that’s a lot of love I'm talking about)

I love my mother because sometimes she is the realest thing in the universe. People support you. People love you. People care for you. But people don't have an "always". People have intentions. People have compassion. But people don't have an "always".
Mothers have an always. Even when they are screaming at you for hiding your 1 out of 14 maths test paper. They always love you. Enough to think you should be a better person; not someone who forges their father's signature on a 35 out of 50 Sanskrit paper (I mean it wasn't even that bad). And they don't really have to do it. But they do. Always.

The always is what makes her my mother. She is always there. And when the world is running around screaming and swearing and laughing and grieving. She is always there smelling like baby powder and 5 hundred perfumes (She does!).
And when you are being stupid, she obliges the universe by slapping you hard. That too.

Because SHE is very intelligent.
She will tell you otherwise.
SHE is strong - Internally and externally. She will tell you otherwise ( If there was a hypothetical wwe fight between her and and any worthy opponent. She will aim with her bata rubber chappal and it will be the end.)

SHE loves a lot. She will tell you otherwise. I think she even likes kids secretly. Only a little though.
SHE is a is a lot of things she says she is not.
She tells it quite unlike it is.
So I will expose her and tell everyone how amazing she is.

Perhaps you should too. Our mother’s love is the purest love we will ever experience. Seemingly ordinary women capable of extraordinary things. Someone in the whole wide world but The One in our world. Love HER. Appreciate HER. Tell HER how important she is with words and follow it up with actions. Today and for Always.

To my mother - Shelley Marwaha
You are my Always Ma.
