Those who had paid attention to Steve Jobs' iMac launch explanation in the year 1998 will have a good idea what it stands for.

The 'i' stands for five words, and not just one.

It stands for 'internet, individual, instruct, inform and inspire', according to a report by Readers Digest.

“Steve Jobs said the ‘I’ stands for ‘internet, individual, instruct, inform, [and] inspire,'” Paul Bischoff, a privacy advocate at Comparitech, was quoted as saying by the publication.

He added: "He also alluded to it referencing ‘I’ as a personal pronoun, and ‘instruction’ for education purposes.”

Jobs basically stressed that the 'i' technically 'didn't have any official meaning. It was just a 'personal pronoun' and 'instruction' for teaching the values and principles of the company to its employees and customers.
