The virtual man and his profile were created by the matchmaking service BharatMatrimony as part of a marketing campaign. Each image on Iyer's profile is developed using AI and the captions used for the images are generated by ChatGPT, the latest talk of the town.

The matrimony site stated that the profile was created several weeks prior to Valentine's Day. Soon, the bot account garnered a massive following. Speaking of the campaign, the site in a statement stated, "He started celebrating rose day, propose day, kiss day and declared his intention to find a valentine, generating buzz and excitement among his followers. However, on Valentine's Day, it was revealed that Aditya Iyer, the perfect valentine, was not real, but a campaign setup to showcase the importance of connecting with real people looking for real love," according to NDTV.
