Federer marked record 400th Grand Slam match with victory
20-year-old Kenin has entered the fourth round of a Grand Slam for the very first time in her career.
The unseeded American notched 61 per cent of points of the Williams second serve and only allowed herself to be broken once out of Williams's seven chances. Williams had 30 winners to Kenin's 23 during the clash, but Williams, a former world number one was undone by 34 unforced errors.
The 23-time Grand Slam champion Williams never got going throughout the match.
The men's doubles pair of Leander Paes and Benoit Paire crashed out of the French Open on Saturday as they were defeated 0-6 6-4 3-6 by the Colombian duo of Robert Farah and Juan Cabal.
The duo of Paes and Paire lost the second round match that lasted for an hour and 56 minutes. Paes and Paire lost the first set, without winning a single game and they ended up comprehensively losing the first set 0-6.
The duo managed to come back in the second set and they were able to take the set 6-4.
But in the deciding set, the Colombian duo piled the pressure on Paes and Paire. Farah and Cabal won the deciding set 6-3, resulting in Paes and Paire's loss in the second round match.
Roger Federer showed a scintillating performance yet again to reach in the quarter-final on Sunday as he defeated Argentina's Leonardo Mayer by 6-2, 6-3, 6-3.
