Indians in UAE can renew International Driving Permit through Abu Dhabi embassy

The embassy in a circular said that anyone who wishes to renew his or her permit must visit the mission on working hours.

Indian nationals residing in the UAE can now renew their International Driving Permit (IDP) through the Indian Embassy in Abu Dhabi.

The embassy in a circular said that anyone who wishes to renew his or her permit must visit the mission on working hours. It also said that the authorities in India must have issued the permit for the concerned person.

The advisory reads, “As approved by the Government of India, like all other Embassies of India, the Embassy of India in Abu Dhabi, in cooperation with Ministry of Transport and Highways (MoRTH), will also w.e.f 15.02.2021 facilitate the re-issuance of International Driving Permit (IDP), to Indian nationals, which were originally issued by the relevant authorities in India.

“Those who intend to avail of this Consular Service may please visit the Embassy during working hours (between 08:30 AM to 12:30 PM on all working days from Sunday-Thursday) with their valid Passport and expired IDP/IDP number as well as their Indian driving licence. After physical verification of the documents, they will be asked to submit duly filled in Miscellaneous Consular Service Form (EAP-II) (available at the link https:llindembassyuae.goy.in/application-form.php) along with Dhs 40/- as Consular service fee and Dhs8/- as Indian Community Welfare Fund (ICWF) charge.

“The applicant would need to upload all the relevant documents along with the receipt issued by the Mission in the portal www.parivahan.gov.in and pay the requisite lDP fees online on the same portal. On receipt of the application through the portal, the licensing authority (MoRTH), upon verification of the document shall courier the IDP, directly to the residential address of the applicant.”

The mission said, “It may be noted that the role of the Embassy in this Consular Service is limited to the extent of facilitating submission of IDP renewal application form only. Any further correspondence pertaining to the subject, including status of the application, would need to be verified directly from the concerned authority (MoRTH) in India.”
