Abu Dhabi Police launch radio service for checkpoint information for motorists

Abu Dhabi Police have launched emergency radio broadcast on 24 radio stations (FM) for the first time in the country.

The round the clock broadcast will be in four languages: Arabic, English, Urdu and Malayalam, with the aim of educating drivers of the procedures to be followed before reaching security checkpoints in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

The motorist will be able to listen to the broadcast from 200 metres before they reach the checkpoint.

The procedures broadcast on the system includes informing drivers reducing speed, reducing light and adhering to the specified route, as the right lane is designated for trucks only and about the number of passengers permitted inside the vehicles.

The permitted number of passengers inside a vehicle is limited to 3 persons only if they do not belong to same family.

In addition motorists will be alerted to wearing the masks, present the Emirates ID card and the result of the COVID-19 test through Al Hosn App.

The emergency broadcast technology via FM radio is considered one of the pioneering techniques in introducing drivers on the roads about traffic congestion or severe accidents, as well as warning of weather conditions.
